But wait a minute….what about ‘that new miracle eye cream that’s splashed all over the internet!’ or ‘that wonder eye cream with a super duper new ingredient I’ve never heard of’?
We sadly live in a world nowadays filled with superdupercalifragilisticexpialidocious ‘miracle’ skincare products yet our skin has never been worse!
Miracles are…well…a bit far fetched in our books but magic on the other hand… that’s a different tale..
Our rejuvenating, eye cream contains revitalising botanicals that have been used since ancient times by the likes of Cleopatra and the Queen of Sheba (who doesn’t want to be a Queen?!)
Our eye cream can ease those puffy, tired eyes, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and tighten and firm the skin around your eyes, softening it and smoothing away the age lines.
Many of the ingredients we use are clinically proven to be effective and studies are available online (great bedtime reading!).
Licorice root has been scientifically proven at lightening the skin and is therefore excellent at reducing dark circles under the eyes.
Marshmallow root helps to minimise the skins inflammatory process therefore it fights skin degeneration and cellular oxidation. It will boost the dermal structure of your skin, reducing skin ageing and inflammation. This will reduces any eye puffiness, sagging skin and wrinkles.
Gotu Kola will increase blood circulation around your eyes. Poor blood circulation is one of the causes of dark circles under the eyes. It will also strengthen your skin and repair any broken capillaries, which is another cause of dark circles. Gotu Kola will also boost collagen which in turn will reduce the appearance of any wrinkles.
This has been clinically proven to improve the skin’s appearance by regenerating skin cells. It is rich in topical trans-retinoic acid (vitamin A) and is used by dermatologists to increase collagen production in the dermis. It is the gold standard in anti-ageing skincare.
Rosehip oil is rich in natural retinoic acid. Research published in the Journal of Dermatological Science reported that treatment with retinoic acid restored the elastic fibres that keep skin taut and reduced the appearance of wrinkles.
Our formula contains aloe vera which is rich in vitamin C. A few clinical studies have demonstrated that vitamin C can improve wrinkles.
One study showed that daily use of a vitamin C formulation for at least three months improved the appearance of fine and coarse wrinkles of the face and neck, as well as improved overall skin texture and appearance.
There is so much hype these days surrounding skin essences isn’t there?
The reasons why the experts tell you to apply a separate skin essence before you apply your regular moisturiser, oil or serum, is for;
a) increased hydration, b) additional nutrients and c) to create pathways into your skin so your skincare product and its nutrients are absorbed more easily.
However the truth is, it can be a bit of a con! As long as your regular product already contains enough water and essences (like ours does!), then a separate essence becomes an unnecessary expense.
The natural oils in our cream contain high levels of ceramides.
Ceramides have water-retaining properties that prevent moisture loss from the skin.
Hydrated skin can help minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, which are often more visible when the skin is dry.
Ceramides can also stimulate the production of keratinocytes, which make keratin. The increase of keratin helps rejuvenate the skin barrier and reduce signs of aging.
Aloe vera is a mild astringent, and because astringents have properties that attract water, it helps draw moisture away from the skin.
When you apply pure aloe vera directly on to your skin, it can cause it to feel tight. The effect of this in a skin cream is that it helps to smooth out your wrinkles.
Shea butter’s high concentration of vitamins and fatty acids — combined with its easy-to-spread consistency — makes it a great product for smoothing, soothing, and conditioning your skin.
It contains triterpenes. These naturally occurring chemical compounds are thought to deactivate collagen fibre destruction This can minimise the appearance of fine lines and result in plumper skin.
Scientific studies have shown that topically applied vitamin E is an excellent moisturiser.
It is also a very effective antioxidant and protects the skin from environmental pollution and oxidative stress.
