Many of the ingredients we use are clinically proven to be effective and studies are available online (great bedtime reading!).
Argan oil is nutrient rich and contains essential fatty acids, vitamin E, polyphenols, carotenoids, ferulic acid and triterpenoids.
These components are important for healthy skin. The fatty acids help restore the skin’s integrity and natural barrier and the antioxidants protect and reverse the effects of environmental damage on the skin.
Ferulic acid in argan oil helps neutralise free radicals and protect the skin from UV damage.
Moreover, because of the presence of triterpenoids that protect from outside elements, argan oil can keep the skin well-hydrated, smooth and increase elasticity.
Extensive scientific research has revealed that argan oil restores the skin’s water-lipid layer and increases the amount of nutrients and oxygen in the skin cell, neutralises free radicals and protects connective tissue.
Argan oil contains phytosterols, which lend anti-ageing benefits by promoting new collagen production that is lost from sun exposure and ageing.
A German study showed that phytosterols stopped the slow-down of collagen production that can be caused by the sun and it actually encouraged new collagen production.
This has been clinically proven to improve the skin’s appearance by regenerating skin cells. It is rich in topical trans-retinoic acid (vitamin A) and is used by dermatologists to increase collagen production in the dermis. It is the gold standard in anti-ageing skincare.
Rosehip oil is rich in natural retinoic acid. Research published in the Journal of Dermatological Science reported that treatment with retinoic acid restored the elastic fibres that keep skin taut and reduced the appearance of wrinkles.
Our formula contains aloe vera which is rich in vitamin C. A few clinical studies have demonstrated that vitamin C can improve wrinkles.
One study showed that daily use of a vitamin C formulation for at least three months improved the appearance of fine and coarse wrinkles of the face and neck, as well as improved overall skin texture and appearance.
There is so much hype these days surrounding skin essences isn’t there?
The reasons why the experts tell you to apply a separate skin essence before you apply your regular moisturiser, oil or serum, is for;
a) increased hydration, b) additional nutrients and c) to create pathways into your skin so your skincare product and its nutrients are absorbed more easily.
However the truth is, it can be a bit of a con! As long as your regular product already contains enough water and essences (like ours does!), then a separate essence becomes an unnecessary expense.
Rich in vitamin E, vitamin A, essential fatty acids, potassium, proteins and zinc, almond oil can help revitalize and rejuvenate your skin when it’s looking dull or tired.
The natural oils in our cream contain high levels of ceramides.
Ceramides have water-retaining properties that prevent moisture loss from the skin.
Hydrated skin can help minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, which are often more visible when the skin is dry.
Ceramides can also stimulate the production of keratinocytes, which make keratin. The increase of keratin helps rejuvenate the skin barrier and reduce signs of aging.
Aloe vera is a mild astringent, and because astringents have properties that attract water, it helps draw moisture away from the skin.
When you apply pure aloe vera directly on to your skin, it can cause it to feel tight. The effect of this in a skin cream is that it helps to smooth out your wrinkles.
Shea butter’s high concentration of vitamins and fatty acids — combined with its easy-to-spread consistency — makes it a great product for smoothing, soothing, and conditioning your skin.
It contains triterpenes. These naturally occurring chemical compounds are thought to deactivate collagen fibre destruction This can minimise the appearance of fine lines and result in plumper skin.
Scientific studies have shown that topically applied vitamin E is an excellent moisturiser.
It is also a very effective antioxidant and protects the skin from environmental pollution and oxidative stress.
